Can you describe your process? Aspiring painters want to know! And if it's not too much trouble, what are your hardware considerations? I'm a storyboard artist. We really don't need the heavy stuff.

Thank you ~j ... I was a storyboard guy for TV commercials before i started to Direct... I will send you a PM about how i do some of this stuff, just need to get some time...I will do it in the next couple of days
as to hardware, I'm using a 20" iMac 2.0 Gz2,
2G RAM getting a new machine soon though, and thanks so much for your comments on my stuff!

Your timing is immaculate, Nelson. I've been checking out hardware packages within my budget that favor my need for speed vs. memory. Care to weigh in? I've just been my longtime love affair with directing(scripting since forever) but have limited myself to music videos for the time being. Despite the advice of all my director buddies about going the short film route I'm still holding out for work on my feature, or as a screenwriter. These days I still ply my trade on the occasional spot, and The Mummy 3. Storyboard artists unite!

...hey... go for the iMac 24 with a minimum 2 G's of RAM...the new Intel chips demand it!
The "short film route" used to be quite viable as a way to get an agent, but as you know with the advent of cheap DV cam's and Apple software, and PC shit as well...the adage "I want to Direct" has come very true!
... but all the little gizmo's in the world...do not a Director make .. just look at YouTube or any other site showing people who want to Direct, but still have no clue as to what it takes!
Mind you look at this weeks, next weeks and...so on theatrical realeases and see that it's all the luck of the draw... by the way, being a Storyboard artist helped me imensly when I first started out...people would shit at seeing my boards...still do...LOL!
Cheers!

So true about Youtube and the like. The digital boom has given birth to a ton of hacks, and opportunities to some impressive up and comers. The choices are endless. Coop programs tend to fare very well around these parts where each director benefits from the pooled resources of the group. I'm shooting a few 30 second spots in the fall to round out my portfolio. After ten years, there isn't a local production house that isn't familiar with my storyboarding work. Let's hope they see me in a different light! 2gigs of ram, eh? Dude, I'll have to break the credit card out of storage! Ouch!

Are you doing the Fanexpo in Toronto this year? I'll be there, come what may...
